Photo 16 Sep It’s no secret that the Bush administration was no friend to justice. Dick Cheney manipulated and politicized the justice department so that it was barely recognizable, and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was forced to resign because of his assistance in the gouging of the department. The Bush administration’s approach to the idea of justice is reprehensible, loathsome and contradictory to any idea of decency. That is why it is so refreshing to see President Obama’s justice department function the way it does. With Attorney General Eric Holder at the helm, the Obama justice department is making a return to the ideals that not only founded this country, but allowed it to endure and thrive.
Of all the causes Attorney General Holder is currently championing, the CIA prisoner abuse issue gets the most attention. During Holder’s Senate confirmation hearing, he was asked if he considered water boarding somebody torture.Holder responded with an unequivocal “yes,” and provided a breath of fresh air after eight years of inhaling lies and semantics from the Bush administration. So,on August 24 it was reported that after months of careful consideration, Holder would appoint special prosecutor John Durham to look into terror suspects being abused by CIA interrogators.  Immediately conservatives cried out, saying this investigation would be detrimental to the intelligence community and interrogators would be scared to do their job. Leading this misled mob was none other than Dick Cheney, who appeared on Fox news saying the decision was “purely political” and further elaborated saying “I mean, there’s no other rationale for why they’re doing this…” Unfortunately, Mr. Cheney has never grasped the concepts of morality, dignity and legality, so it comes as no surprise to hear him say something like this. What Mr. Cheney doesn’t understand is that the President and his attorney general are restoring the justice department after eight years of perversion by an administration that treated the department as it’s scapegoat to torture and violate legal precedent in manner unseen in American history.    Along with bringing America out of a dark age where torturing another human being was just another day at the office, President Obama and Attorney General Holder still have time to look after the little guy. The independent dairy farmer is not thought of much in this country, but they are facing a monopoly. A group of independent dairy farmers have brought Dean Foods Inc. and Dairy Farmers of America Inc. to federal court claiming they are engaging in anti-competitive and predatory behavior. These dairy farmers allege that the two corporation have created and illegal milk cartel in the southeast and are choking the life out of the independent farmer. These practices have been happening since the 1980’s and in 2006 investigators recommended Dean Foods Inc. and Dairy Farmers of America Inc. have charges filed against them for violating the Sherman Anti Trust Act. But, under President Bush’s justice department, the issue was shelved as the department had it hands tied having to figure out some way to justify torture. There isn’t a whole lot of time to look after the common dairy farmer when you’re violating international law and actively shredding the Constitution. However, three senators have sent letter to the Obama justice department asking them to breath life back into the case and it is now officially under review by the justice department.     So, while Dick Cheney sits in his Wyoming home hundreds of miles away from the perversion of justice which he encouraged, the President and Attorney General Holder actively seek to bring dignity back to the justice department. President Obama promised change and there is no clearer example of that than in the way he handles his Department of Justice.

Text 2 Sep 5 notes Everything Baltimore…

I’m beginning to think that all good things spring from Baltimore.

The Wire is the greatest television show of all time.

Homicide: Life on the Streets is the greatest network television show of all time.

The Baltimore Orioles is the greatest Baseball team of all time.

The Baltimore murder rate is the greatest of all time.

Baltimore is a city in a country full of impostors.
